Screw Spike
basic information
These screw spikes, also called threaded rail spikes, are core anchoring components of EU/US standard compliant rail fastening systems, designed to firmly lock base plates, elastic clip assemblies and other parts to pre-embedded sleeves in concrete sleepers, preventing displacement of the whole fastening system under repeated dynamic train loads. For EU markets conforming to EN 13481-2 and EN 14399 specifications, the spikes are forged from Grade 4.8/8.8 high-carbon steel, with standard metric thread sizes ranging from M16 to M27, suitable for 350km/h high-speed rails, 25t axle-load heavy-haul lines and urban transit routes, fully compatible with mainstream Pandrol Fastclip and Vossloh SKL fastening systems. For North American markets following AREMA Chapter 5 regulations, standard imperial size spikes with 5/8’’ to 1’’ diameters are required, matching AREMA specified pre-embedded sleeves and tie plates, supporting up to 40t axle-load heavy-haul freight lines. All products are treated with dacromet or hot-dip galvanized anti-corrosion coatings, passing 1200+ hour neutral salt spray tests to adapt to extreme working environments from -45℃ alpine areas to 75℃ desert regions. Qualified products have a minimum shear strength of 750MPa, and pass 5 million dynamic load cycle tests without fracture or permanent deformation, guaranteeing over 30 years of service life. Insulated coated versions are also available for electrified lines, providing ≥12MΩ insulation resistance to avoid railway signal interference, and custom thread specifications, lengths and surface treatments are available for special project demands.
